Highlights from our Learning

Today we started with Literacy Centers. The students rotated to a new station where they had a chance to practice reading through a variety of Media. Students continued to work in their independent reading levels. Students worked on their reading skills at Guided Reading, Poetry Performance, Reading Classroom Books, Reading from Leveled Book or Reading on RazKids. Please ask your child what activity they participated in today.

We also worked on the _an word family. Ask your child what words we came up with today that are in the "_an" family.

In Math we worked on representing numbers. We took the number 8 and illustrated how many ways you could make the number 8. Ask your child some of the ways they represented the number 8 in their math books.

This week we are learning about the 6 different animal group classifications. Today we learned all about mammals. Ask your child what all mammals have and how we know an animal is a mammal.

We also went to music and the learning commons this afternoon.

F.Y.I.

Please send in a pair of earbuds or headphones that your child can use when they are listening to books on RazKids. Since students are working on their individual levels and book choices, it is quite distracting if headphones are not used. Please label the headphones with your child's name. If you do not have an extra pair at home, they are readily available at dollar stores, Walmart etc.

Scholastic Book orders are due by Friday, November 15th. Thanks!

There is no school next Friday, November 22. This is a PD day for teachers.
